Save our local businesses!

Crawley residents Mukesh and Varsha Patel have been running their business Brunchies Cafe at Three Bridges station for over 15 years.

As part of the redevelopment plans for the station the family business has been ordered to vacate the premises in order to make way for a "branded name or franchise operator".

Brunchies is Mukesh and Varsha's income, and they also employ 2 members of staff. Because of Southern Railway, Travel Point Trading, and the managers of Three Bridges station bowing to the pressures of corporate greed, these 4 people are losing their jobs, and the business they've spend most of their lives building up.

Crawley commuters and other travellers who pass through the station have come to know Mukesh and Varsha, many of whom prefer the personal and warming welcome the couple give to all their customers. They're known as being "the nicest people you'll ever meet". Which makes this eviction even more unjustified.

Considering we're the ones passing through and spending our money in the station, let the operators know that we do NOT want Brunchies to go.

Sign this petition and once we reach 5000 signatures a copy will be sent to the local MP for Crawley, Henry Smith, along with the managers of the station and the representatives of the sale of the premises.

I spent the morning reading through the stories you all left about Mukesh and Varsha and it really drives home why this place matters so much to the commuters because it is not just coffee it is a proper welcome every single day. I have been trying to track down the right people to email at the station management offices but the silence on their end is frustrating and honestly just feels like a wall but I am not letting up yet.

I honestly never thought this would gain so much steam so fast because usually these things just sort of fade away but look at us now. Seeing the messages about how much Mukesh and Varsha mean to everyone has been wild and it really keeps me going when I feel like just giving up on the whole thing. It feels like the station managers might actually have to look our way now which is just bizarre to think about.

I go there every morning for my coffee. They always have a smile even when the trains are delayed. Leave them alone!!!!

Used to go here every day when I commuted. Mukesh is such a lovely guy. This is just pure greed.

Ridiculous decision. Why ruin a local business that works for a stupid chain that will charge double? Keep Brunchies.

Three Bridges won't be the same without them. They actually care about the customers. Keep it local!

15 years of hard work down the drain for a franchise. Disgraceful treatment of local people. Hope they change their minds.

Brunchies is the only good thing about that station. Mukesh and Varsha are legends honestly. Corporate shops are soulless.
