The council finally backed down and reversed their plan to gut Sherdley Park. We forced them to keep the golf course and the pets corner open for our community. Keep watching them closely because we will not tolerate another attempt to dismantle the few public spaces we have left.

Sherdley Park Golf Course, Driving Range and Pets Corner are the latest to face the axe due to Government Cuts. Sherdley Park Golf Course is the home to 2 golf clubs, Sherdley Park and St Helens. The Course is also the only Pay and Play Golf Course for miles around to allow golfers, new and experienced, to play the game. Sherdley Park Golf Course was one of the only things in St Helens attracting people from afar to come and spend money in the area.

Pets Corner, a place families and children can go and visit whilst in the park for FREE. Pets Corner has provided lots of people from St Helens with fond memories of their days out at the park.

Without staff around the park what is making the children of St Helens safe? This will become a place for sexual predators in no time. Also if these sites close down, where will the public toilets be for all guests at Sherdley Park

Too many public places are closing down in St Helens, and is bringing the town to its knees. We need to recognise the impact this will have on the community. We need to stand up against these cuts and save OUR PARK!!!!

We just hit 100 signatures and the council cannot ignore how angry this town is about losing our park. St Helens is being gutted by these cuts and I am sick of watching them destroy everything that matters to our community.

There are always debates about getting kids more active and community care for the elderly, and then hearing more cuts may mean a place that brings people together like Sherdley Park is going to close? doesn't make sense to me.

I myself do not play golf however I find it unbelievable that something that benefits the community and has been part of our town for years can just be closed. Surely savings could be made elsewhere.. Perhaps at the town hall??

I started playing golf here in the early 80's, then joined St.Helens golf club. There have been some great golfers come from here, to name one, Paul Roberts who is now the professional at Grange Park. This cannot be allowed to close down.

Please don't close Pets corner. Myself growing up loved it there and now all three of my children do! They learn lots about different animals from there. It would be a great shame if they could no longer go and visit the animals.

As regular visitors from overseas (grew up in St. Helens), we always play at Sherdley golf course whenever we are in town. Also we love to take our children to pets corner. They are both one of the few things left to do in the town for recreation.
