This is the first course I ever played just a few months after it opened and was just 9 holes, have seen many changes in the years since then, but to close it would be a travesty.
This is the easy way out for a council lacking in original thought or ideas and showing, yet again, blinkered short-termism. They will sell off the land to developers, use the money to facilitate overspending in other areas and be back where they started in a couple of years time.
Once this course has been closed there will be no going back, it will be gone forever.
The smart thing to do would be to make the course a "must play" facility as it always was in the past. If it's losing money do something to turn it around, it should be fairly easy to do, and should be something that St.Helens can be proud of... but then I guess it isn't Rugby League related

I suspect the council don’t want the course to survive.
Back handers from house builders no doubt.
What should we expect with a council leader with a history of fraud charges?

This is a great little golf course that isn’t pretentious like others in the St. Helens area. Plus it’s a great open space

Me and my brother have been members at golf clubs elswhere in the past and yet we have always made an effot to play the course for many years ..as do alot of the golfing community. .not only would it be a mistake to close the course but it will be very sad to see this happen!! Don't change the things that aren't broken instead let's build to make things stronger.

such shortsightedness by St Helens Council, only interested in their nice cushy jobs and to hell with the people of St Helens.

i have been playing at this course since the 70's (when Peter Parker owned it). it was very well run and always in top condition, i am sad to say that I have played here 3 times in the past month and the state of some of the bunkers and greens is saddening to say the least. Come on St Helens MBC lets "get active" and look after this great course that is enjoyed by all!! also.... removing pets corner is a disgrace and you should be ashamed!!!
