WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!

North Herts District Council is CLOSING 14 children’s playgrounds across Hitchin, Letchworth, Baldock, Royston and Stevenage, including our much loved and used Rosehill Park - the horsey park, named due to its well loved rocking horse.

North Herts District Council have identified Rosehill Park as a park of 'low strategic play value' and 'low usage'. We dispute this and know that the park is well used by local children and families. We feel access to and availability of play equipment and parks is critical for children's development and long term health.

The park has been a central part of the Rosehill community since the early 1960s. The park is perfectly located for families in this heavily family populated area. Feedback from wider community members such as childminders and grandparents give weight to this. The residents feel strongly that this children's play area must remain as it is, available and accessible to all.

Please sign our petition to make NHDC aware of the strength of public support against the closure of Rosehill Park.

I use this park two or three times a week with my toddlers, it's ideal as its close by, the others are too far to walk to with screaming toddlers! Please don't close it!

I grew up on the Rosehill Estate and spent most of my time at this park when I wasn't playing hopscotch. Children need safe open play areas and this one serves an estate on the edge of town where there isn't much else for kids to do. Leave it as it is for future generations.

Please do not get rid of this lovely playground. Perhaps more people would use it if it was signposted from the Cambridge Road. I have taken my children a few times and always struggle to find it as it is so hidden

rose hill park is such a valuable resource for families on this estate. It helps keeps my children active, it's easy for me with more than one child to get out and about, it's a great meeting place for children to develop their social skills and it's been an invaluable place for me to meet mums. We'd be disadvantages without it.

Rosehill park feels particularly safe, especially if you have younger children as it is small and enclosed. It serves a large area, not just the Rosehill area. We live near Walsworth Common but still often use Rosehill Park. NHDC you should be encouraging parents to get their children out playing in the fresh air NOT closing the few safe play areas we have.

This decision does not make sense, the park is well used and well located for all the families on Rosehill. NHDC claims to have children's long term well being as a key driver for their decision making and strategic planning. This decision totally goes against this.

Stop Playgrounds are essential. At present we are in a situation where the local residents are older. But it won't be long before they leave their houses and the next generation of young families move in to raise their kids here. Kids who need play space. Don't be short sighted.

I think it's such a shame that our local parks are threatened with closure, kids need to be encouraged to be outside playing not cooped up indoors, and this play park is well loved by a lot of children who live nearby. SAVE OUR PARK!
