Final supporters
Whitley Bay Cricket Club are seeking approval to fence off the field next to Whitley Bay Ice Rink.
The plan is to only leave 3 metres around the bottom of the banks.
This field is used on a daily basis by the public.
It’s an extremely popular sledging spot in the winter and many sporting clubs, aside the cricket club, use this field for training several times per week.
Please help us fight and keep this field open to the public.

The momentum is actually picking up and I can barely keep track of the alerts popping up on my phone while I am trying to finish my coffee because this is really happening. We are almost at that 250 threshold so please just send this link to anyone you know who uses the field for sledging or training because we need to hit that mark before I march into the council office.

This field is a valuable green space used by many, adults and children. Removing access to it would be a great blow to locals, restrict green spaces which keep our children safe and a tall metal fence would be a complete eyesore. The cricket club have managed for decades without a fence, there is no need for one now!
My kids (8&11) have grown up living across the road from this field and have always loved to go and have a game of footy or run around with their friends etc, we also take our dog on this field for a run about, like ALOT of others do too! It shouldn't be closed off to the public it's just a totally stupid idea!!
This site was originally a Victorian Park like Northumberland Park in North Shields. Purely for the people of Whitley! Please don't remove access for the community who use it regularly.
I’ve live around here all my life & played & sledged on the cricket field when I was younger now my grandson does now pleas don’t take what fun they hav when it snows
Disgusting that we should lose a public field for a handful of elite that play cricket. This field is used by many people for dog walking, exercise classes and yearly sledging! I walk my dog there all the time and have made many doggy friends!
