We ask our Councillors and MP to support parents and members of Shenfield Cricket Club in demanding that Brentwood Borough Council lift it’s embargo on the Club renewing its practise nets.

The Council should not prevent young players from having safe and up to date facilities in this way.

Shenfield CC was a great experience and the nets needed sorting even when I was there back in the mid 90's. They are dangerous nets. It's very deflating that tax payer money is paid to people who make these unfathomable decisions.

In a time when it is universally recognised that sport has a vital role in communites and physical activity encouraged at all levels and ages, a decision not to allow a cricket club new facilities perversely goes against current thinking

Hi, it's all about the council wanting control of the Courage fields and seizing the car park for their own financial gain. To try and achieve this they are refusing to let us replace the nets unless we agree... disgraceful

Shenfield cricket club is very important to my son and he has had many hours of enjoyment playing cricket, growing in confidence and has made some very good friends over the last 5 years. It's a disgrace that Brentwood Council are blocking the refurbishments of the nets.

The current nets are not good enough to practice in or safe enough for 200 plus youngsters to use on a weekly basis. The local council should be encouraging young people to partake in physical activity and take up games such as cricket, not taking that opportunity away.

I've been a member at SCC for nearly 20 years and as the current secretary and a player I can say that this project is absolutely vital for the club to keep running and providing the vital service of youth development for the local area

This place is not only somewhere for people to improve at cricket but for socialisation and acts as a safe haven and I really think it is a key part of the community

Mr Pickles. You are a common sense MP, and this is very much a common sense issue - or indeed non issue. Please see to it that Brentwood BC grant the necessary permissions so that the future of cricket in Brentwood & Shenfield is secured, and that cricketers of all ages can enjoy the game in a safe environment.
