I just saw we hit two hundred and fifty signatures which is honestly wild because when I started this I figured maybe my neighbors would sign and that would be it. I keep thinking about the ducks that live by the pond near the entrance and how they would have nowhere else to go if the bulldozers actually show up and start digging up all that mud.

I was just staring at the screen watching the counter climb and honestly it is wild how many of you care about these wetlands. We are just a few signatures away from hitting that next big target so please send this link to a neighbor or anyone you think actually walks dogs in the park instead of just ignoring the grass. If we can knock this out today it would be huge for showing the city planners that we are not going to go away quietly.

I honestly never thought we would see this kind of energy for the park but here we are and it just feels surreal how fast the word has spread. People keep talking about preserving the wetlands and it makes me feel like maybe we actually have a shot at keeping the bulldozers away from these trails.

We need to preserve parkland and trees as much as possible. I also do not agree with giving public land to a school, while "public:" limits its student population to those living within 5 miles.
As a resident on Whittaker Rd who travels through Whittaker Rd onto Welsh Tract daily, I feel this could potentially be a negative impact on the amount of traffic on Welsh Tract and could potentially increase the already dangerous navagation of the intersection of Whittaker and Welsh Tract Rd.
Build the stadium complex elsewhere. Do not take an existing open space park. If they must have a stadium, share one with another school or refurbish the Leroy Hill complex that exists now, has access and parking and is currently used by the school teams.
The city will lease it for $10/month for 50 years. It will be under Newark Charter School who may rent it out. City may use foe 30 hours a month. It will be secured and not accessible for residents, except for the walking path.
Where’s the public notice, Traffic impact study, and Environmental impact studies? Your parking lot will totally destroy a reforestation project that Parks & Rec has been undertaking for several years. The forest canopy is a protected space for flora and wildlife to survive.
We need more green space
I oppose to build anything in Folk Memorial park!

This proposal must be halted immediately. Further deforestation will only worsen the flooding this area of Newark already deals with. No more greedy land grabs for private institutions.
