On March 6th 2019 Derby Lodge Tearooms at Shipley Park will be forced to close its doors forever unless we convince Derbyshire County Council and Shipley Park to keep it open, with new leasers in place to run it instead of those who currently hold the lease.

To have it still running as an opportunity for people with learning difficulties to have work experience is also very important, as well as a popular watering hole for regular local dog walkers, hikers and visitors alike.

For some of our older visitors The Lodge is a lifeline. They tend to come in every morning for their usual drink and snack and to meet other regulars and the great staff. Often that is the only time they get to see anyone in their day.

The Lodge Tearooms is also the only, truly, dog friendly cafe in the park with plenty of outside seating and lots of water bowls to a lovely back room, cosy with a real fire, just for dogs and their owners to enjoy. Plus, there are always plenty of doggie treats. Non doggie owners may also join them, of course!

All of that will be lost if The Lodge has to close!

Please sign to keep Derby Lodge Tearooms open!

Helen provides a warm welcome come rain or shine. We visit 365 days of the year and this place is so valuable for the people with learning difficulties. They always look so happy to be working there .Don't let profit come before people .!!! It's very valued by regular walkers .

One of the best jobs I have ever had was working here, supporting people to learn new skills, be in paid employment, empowering vulnerable people and making people with disabilites feel more valued. The world needs more places like this!!

Please save this as a dog walker it is excellent to have this as the Nutbrook Cafe cannot always accommodate people with dogs as it is always busy. It is also good for people with mental issues to give them a normal life and to integrate with people.

I love walking my dog in Shipley park and the thing that gets me there is Derby lodge to have tea and cake ,and a warm by the fire on could days. My Mum and Dads memorial bench was chosen to be put across the road from Derby lodge as Mum loved the park and tea znd cake there.

We love visiting the lodge. I turn up with a bunch of children. They always accommodate our needs. They are flexible and very helpful, even helping a couple of the children with their coats. It would be very sad if they were to lose this place

This little gem is not only a very welcome watering hole for walkers, families and dogs (who have their own room with their owners) but is also an opportunity for people with learning difficulties(mostly youngsters) to have real work experience. In other words a strong community project, which has now been interrupted for 4 months. Through every season it has been open, with a log fire burning in the winter, keeping the place free from damp until now. It deserves more support from the Council, otherwise it may deteriorate to such a degree, that it is sold to a private individual, depriving the community of using it.

I visited the Derby Lodge and Gardens on a Beautiful Sunshine drenched day this year 2019. My young grandson toddler and I thought it looked so nice with its olde characteristic look. The gardens over looked such stunning views ~ the Bluebells were in full bloom. I really hope the Lodge and gardens will be opened to serve drinks and snacks to visitors. I shall come to visit with my grandson when Iam staying with family :) All Good Wishes to the Lodge opening and thankyou
