This little gem is not only a very welcome watering hole for walkers, families and dogs (who have their own room with their owners) but is also an opportunity for people with learning difficulties(mostly youngsters) to have real work experience. In other words a strong community project, which has now been interrupted for 4 months. Through every season it has been open, with a log fire burning in the winter, keeping the place free from damp until now. It deserves more support from the Council, otherwise it may deteriorate to such a degree, that it is sold to a private individual, depriving the community of using it.

I visited the Derby Lodge and Gardens on a Beautiful Sunshine drenched day this year 2019. My young grandson toddler and I thought it looked so nice with its olde characteristic look. The gardens over looked such stunning views ~ the Bluebells were in full bloom. I really hope the Lodge and gardens will be opened to serve drinks and snacks to visitors. I shall come to visit with my grandson when Iam staying with family :) All Good Wishes to the Lodge opening and thankyou

Our son who has autism and a learning disability helps at the cafe with his college friends. He gets anxious and had been out of school for over a year before college. He was thriving helping at Shipley. He loves dogs and that helped him to talk to new people who visited about their pets. He was gaining confidence and enjoying it. He is very upset he can no longer go and struggling to adjust to new options. These young people were doing a great job and needed the opportunity they had in this lovely cafe. Please re think this.

This closure would be a tremendous loss to the area.

This beautiful building is part of the amazing history of Shipley Park. It would be a crime to close it down. The Lodge is also a lifeline for many of us locals who use it on long walks around the park.

Have used this for refreshments many times on walks around Shipley Park. The Visitor Centre is at the start and end of any walks we do and therefore not practical as a rest place during a walk.
