Today the Argoed told us that from September we are not allowed to wear black trousers. We must wear grey trousers from September 2016.

Everyone has their own reasons for not agreeing to this, mine are that my mum has already bought my trousers for September and I do not feel that grey trousers will look good with our uniform.

We are campaigning to keep the uniform as it is. We don't want or need change.

Parents will have to buy new trousers for the new uniforms.

Families will not be able to pass down their uniforms to their brothers and sisters.

The grey trousers with our grey t-shirts will look a state.

Is this really Succeeding together?

This petition is to ask the Governors of the Argoed to revisit their decision to change the school uniform.

Thank you

** This petition was hand delivered to the School on Monday 13th June 2016 along with a request for the following information:

  • Minutes from the Governors meeting when the matter was discussed.
  • Full and frank disclosure as to the reason for the school uniform changes.
  • Evidence and document used when making the decision, eg: information regarding how the new uniform can be sourced locally and full details as to who collected information and the date they collected it.
  • Explanation as to why the Department for Educations’ Policy Guidance was not considered when making the changes.

The Head Teacher has acknowledge receipt of the documents but to date, no response has been received from the Governing Body (17th June 2016).

I've already bought my daughter trousers & skirt cost of £40 & just bought my sons uniform, I can't afford to buy my children new uniform, more importantly what are you doing about the terrible Eystn report which is the worst it's ever had.

That is the reason they are taking away black. To stop people from wearing skinny trousers. But some of the girls have found grey ones in Top Shop so they will just be replacing one problem with another.

I think it's pathetic changing it to grey, you can't get grey pants to fit the tall lads, everyone will be wearing different colour grey and the school will look odd and tacky also not many places supply grey pants in high school sizes, and as a side note it will clash with the grey polo shirt

Wrong decision with no communication to parents. Black skirts and trousers bought ready for September for my daughter. Grey will not suit the rest of the uniform as it is currently, black is the smarter colour choice.

Many parents particularly those with low budgets or with multiple school age children have already bought uniform for the new school term or budgeted based on what can be passed down. To give notice at this stage is unacceptable and a slight colour variation is ridiculous frankly

I'm all in favour of a uniform but this day and age you have to consider the cost to parents. To suddenly change when a lot of parents will have already spent hard earned cash in readiness for the next upcoming term is unfair. Surely grey or black should be allowed.

I always do..... very rarely get a response. Perhaps now the governor's will take note of the unrest and solve many of the issues brought about as a result of this petition. I see this as a positive move for the future of Argoed High School.

As an ex pupil, I have very happy memories of my Argoed years. The same cannot be said now I am a parent. I intend to put pen to paper to express my concerns as surely the governing body cannot be blind to the steep decline at AHS. Grey trousers? Look at the bigger problems, please!
