I always do..... very rarely get a response. Perhaps now the governor's will take note of the unrest and solve many of the issues brought about as a result of this petition. I see this as a positive move for the future of Argoed High School.

As an ex pupil, I have very happy memories of my Argoed years. The same cannot be said now I am a parent. I intend to put pen to paper to express my concerns as surely the governing body cannot be blind to the steep decline at AHS. Grey trousers? Look at the bigger problems, please!

It is the most ridiculous thing I've heard in a long time! Concentrate more on learning and less on trouser colour!! I used to loved being at the Argoed many years ago, now it's just turned in to a joke. I feel so sorry for the pupils. And when is the most up to date Estyn report coming out? I think that is far more important.

This just seems a system of passing the buck by a school incapable of enforcing it's own school uniform policy-a change to grey trousers will not stop those that still want to go against the uniform regs..it's just that we will see grey leggings jeans and mini skirts instead of black..pointless waste of time

Disgraceful decision with in effective consultation

I quite agree. The Estyn report seems to have disappeared from trace, or maybe that is what the Head thinks. We need answers about the future of Argoed and its response to the improvements needed. Granted, some people here think comments are unhelpful and unwarranted, but we are all entitled to our own opinion with regards our child's education. And if your child has been a victim of bullying, of course you would want the situation resolved with immediate effect. Unfortunately, this has turned into a sounding board for far more than a debate about school uniform. This ipetition showcases parents disappointment in the school and leadership. The email last Friday was just a joke.

I've already bought my daughter trousers & skirt cost of £40 & just bought my sons uniform, I can't afford to buy my children new uniform, more importantly what are you doing about the terrible Eystn report which is the worst it's ever had.

Yes, I also struggle to see how it will look better.

That is the reason they are taking away black. To stop people from wearing skinny trousers. But some of the girls have found grey ones in Top Shop so they will just be replacing one problem with another.

Please make sure you contact the school to notify them of your issues.

It wont make any difference anyway. Some pupils have already found skinny grey jeans. If that is the reason for the changing the uniform then it's very short sighted.

the letter says that it was the Governors that made the decision? Do you have information that it wasn't the governors ?

Hi Sarah, We raised our concerns in school about the change but they still went ahead and changed it. We were not listened to. In fact we were continuously told that we were pathetic for being against it. Everyone has their own personal reasons for wanting to unite and petition the Governing body to reconsider their decision but if there are any particular comments that you see which you find offensive please flag them up or report them. I am glad to hear that you are in a position to go out and buy new uniform for your child whenever the school demands it ~(this is the second uniform change in 2 years) but unfortunately not all of our parents are able to do that and it's not fair that they are discriminated against. Our hope is that the governing body will start to take this into consideration when making these types of decisions in the future so that there is no more waste when it comes to passing uniforms down to sibblings and our parents dont have to find the money for new.

I agree that there are some questions to be answered about why this decision has been made and what`s behind it but is it really that big a deal ? A positive campaign is much better than a negative one and some of the personal comments on the petition are unhelpful and unwarranted and will create a more difficult time going forward to put things right. It`s ironic that some parents feel there is an issue with bullying in school and then post what they have on here ! Perhaps some people need to stop and think about where children learn their behaviours from. Let`s stop the nasty and unpleasant personal comments and give the leadership team and Governors the chance to resolve this unfortunate situation. If that results in grey trousers in September- my child will be wearing them .

If the school explained why they are making the change maybe I could support them but u don't see how the change will improve my child's education or make them more comfortable in school so why should the parents all have to go out and buy new?
