Although they have built zebra crossings on the road that we cross to get to our school, I don't think the area is safe. Just the other week, for example, a little girl got run over near my bus stop and all the buses got stopped. There's also roadworks just about everywhere you look and dangerous, busy roads that's hundreds of children cross every day. So sign my online petition to ask the Barnet Council for a happier, safer New Barnet.

The stories coming in about near misses on these streets are exhausting to read but they confirm exactly why this fight is necessary. I have been spending my evenings drafting formal requests to the council despite the lack of direct replies so far. It is a slow and heavy process but I am not walking away from this.

Reaching this point has been exhausting but seeing this level of momentum proves we are not alone. It is hard to keep going when the roads still feel so dangerous every morning. I am tired but I am staying right here with you until something actually changes.

I want New Barnet to be so safe that children crossing the roads will spontaneously and incessantly clap and deliriously sing: "(Because I'm happy) Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof (Because I'm happy) Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth (Because I'm happy) Clap along if you know what happiness is to you (Because I'm happy) Clap along if you feel like that's what you wanna do." I apologise to New Barnet residents in advance.
I rly didn't I was literally just at a computer at school on my petition website and he argued about it with me for a bit and said that we don't need zebra crossings. He then said "fine, I'll sign it" and did it. He clearly doesn't want New Barnet to be safe and only cares about himself.
i don't acc believe that this is remotely necessary but I did it cos my cousin got down on his knees and begged like a whiny person
Isaac how much money would this cost the council? Just to tell you I went to the Full Barnet Council meeting and the administration decided to cut the Safer Neighbourhoods budget which deals with road safety.
its actually scary crossing these roads during rush hour with all the traffic and the construction blocking the view. something needs to change before someone else gets hurt

Yes I agree I think it's horrible how unsafe the roads are and for a girl to get run over close to you is frightening so I will be careful.
