Petition regarding the safety of the children of St. Joseph's Catholic Primary school, Scratton Road.
Unfortunately there have been many incidents where children, pedestrians and drivers have been involved in near accidents outside our school gates. We believe that it is only a matter of time before something more serious happens, which this can be prevented. Safety measures like barriers outside the school entrance/ exits on both Hardie road, and Scratton road can be put in place. As well as the surrounding local area. Previously Thurrock council/ Road traffic/highways maintenance have not listened to our requests.
I (the undersigned) am signing this petition so that Thurrock council will listen to our requests and put safety measures in place on Scratton road and Hardie road such as barriers outside our school gates. To ensure the safety of our children and school commuters.

Unfortunately you can't and won't stop dangerous drivers but you can help protect the pedestrians and children. All other schools in Thurrock have the railings?! Why not ours?!
Its really unsafe and its an accident waiting to happen. Please sort it out before someone gets hurt. Its not only children going into school its also children and adults going into the park. So lots of people walk this way and the driving is really bad with cars nearly hitting children and adults.
I’ve seen lots of people parking directly in front of the school gates which means you cannot see to cross the road without stepping into the road. Lots of near misses.
Please put barriers up along the pavement outside my children's school. They need to be protected from idiotic selfish drivers that mount the curb. Please act before it is too late.
I have worked at this school for over 12 years and have seen dangerous parking increase dramatically lately. I also have a child at the school at recently had to bang on the back of a car to stop it reversing into my child! This car was bumped up the kerb on the zig zag lines right outside the school gates
Only a matter of time until someone gets injured.
I've seen a few incidents of reckless driving or illegal parking, and I believe extra safety measures are needed to avoid accidents to our children and parents and other pedestrians crossing that road especially during drop off period.

Current road safety measures around St Joseph's are not enough. More physical protection is needed to separate pupils and parents from road users. Barriers would be a great solution. The speed bumps on Scratton Road do not slow the traffic down enough. Many Thanks
