This petition has been created in conjunction with a letter submitted to the council in the hope that a request for a bike path be considered and carried out by Council linking Toogoom, Craignish, & Dundowran Beach to Eli waters. Currently, there is no safe way for people to walk or cycle between Eli Waters to Toogoom.

We ask that a cycle/pedestrian pathway from Eli Waters to Toogoom be constructed to enable adults and families with children in Toogoom, Craignish and Dundowran to traverse the 16km distance in a safe manner without having to travel on the roadway, disrupting traffic and endangering lives.

The communities in these areas need this pathway for safe passage from their homes, to Eli Waters and back home again. This would not only provide a safe method of transport but also a much healthier way of life for Council residents.

We feel this would also be a welcome tourist attraction, & healthy boost for businesses. This would assist those on mobility scooters as there is currently no footpath that goes all the way through this area, & Mobility scooters are not allowed to travel along public roads and there is barely safe room for cyclists on the roadway.

We are all very excited at the prospect of having a safe way to cycle or walk to Eli Waters and the Esplanade. We also feel it would be monies well spent by the Council on behalf of ratepayers.

I am currently seeking signatures from residents in the affected areas to support my submission.

ive been talking to people around town and hearing so many stories about how dangerous that road feels for bikes and scooters. im busy drafting a follow up note to the council to make sure they see how many of us actually need this path built.

im honestly so blown away by how much this has taken off. it really shows how many people are tired of dealing with these dangerous roads every single day.

I’ve recently moved to Craignish from Point Vernon & sometimes it feels like we are excluded from Hervey Bay. We are not that far out of town but it’s as though our needs are a little neglected. A path like this would be amazing & would encourage more locals to utilise our beautiful shoreline instead of having to drive to a beach or the esplanade to go for a walk or ride with kids etc....

My son trains cycling and has to go on this dangerous stretch of road all the time.

A safe riding/walking path would make these suburbs more connected to each other, the Craignish shops and the HB business area without constantly relying on cars.

As a regular driver on this main road from Toogoom to Eli Waters, I am extremely fearful for the safety of bike riders & pedestrians on this increasingly busy road. There is simply not enough room for both vehicles & bikes to travel safely along this route.

We promote healthy kids but do not have a safe access to schools for our kids to get there except by car or bus.

Need something for the safety of cyclists and vehicular traffic. Speed limits in these areas are 80 and 100 with no shoulder on the roads to pull over to
