RESTORE BROOKLANE PLAYGROUND
In March of 2013, the playground structure that had existed in Brooklane Playground for over a decade, was removed due to safety concerns. Many of our residents contacted the Hempfield Township Supervisors and/or Township Managers to ask if they had plans on replacing the playground equipment. We were told there are none as of yet. On April 2, 2013, Brooklane Playgrounds pavilion, and other playground equipment was torn down and removed. All that remains is a basketball court, picnic tables and a swing set. We the residents of Hempfield Township and concerned neighbors of Brooklane Playground are petitioning to restore/renew Brooklane Playground in its full capacity. By restoring Brooklane you will be keeping our children off the streets providing them with a safe area for creative play. It gives our children a wonderful common ground, where they are encouraged to exercise and get to socialize face to face, rather than on social media. Brooklane Playground has brought Brooklane families closer together. We as parents feel that neighborhood playgrounds are a vital part of our community. They aid us in keeping our children healthy, happy, and give them the opportunity to learn social skills through cooperative play, allowing these children to build long lasting friendships. Please restore Brooklane Playground and help in our efforts, of raising our children to be upstanding and productive members of our community. We the undersigned, residents of Hempfield Township, request the Township Supervisors of Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, PA, to replace the playground equipment and pavilion that was removed from Brooklane Playground, in the community of Brooklane. We call upon the supervisors to act upon this request, allocate funding, plan, construct and otherwise oversee a usable playground.
