this lowkey makes me mad af since beveridge has been having such a hard year with all the chaos that’s been going on plus one of our friends being taken from us and i feel like she really isn’t doing anything to help us feel better and all she’s doing is cutting out the positivity and fun of the winter dance and even singing happy birthday in the lunch room. like tf? those were helping us more than hurting us. those two events make us feel more like a family and she’s just taking them from us and i personally think that isn’t ok. no offense to her because i feel like she seems like a generally nice person but she kinda has her priorities screwed up... like she’s not doing anything to make us feel better and she’s not stopping all the hateful language and the fights that are erupting every day. we are all stressed and hurting & i feel like we have a right to tell ppl that. thx for this. :)

I 100% agree, I honestly don’t care what the school says about this petition because we have a right to stand up for our opinions. Our new principal stated on announcements, claiming that she wanted to make the rest of our school year super fun, and also open new possibilities for kids (and other things along that line). But yet, she’s cancelled our winter dance, something that many kids have been waiting up for, which is just disgusting. We can’t have our phones out in the halls (which nobody really listens to), we have a new learning goal? Since when does anybody look at learning goals? This is a middle school, not a first grade classroom. Now we’ve been expected by our principal to get all of our homework done and turn it in. But you’re saying we have to have a detention or a “catch up” or whatever day because we’re kids who forget it or just have something really important going on. We have 8 classes to do homework for, it’s tiring and a cycle we’re trying to process and we can’t remember every little thing. And just banning our birthday singing in the lunchroom? It’s our own way of making someone feel special, and it’s causing a “disturbance” when a lunchroom is already loud regardless?? I think it’s childish to think a lunchroom is “scary”. So, it’s a great first impression our principal is making to impact our school and students, you have not only closed our traditions, but you’ve made us hate school more than we already do. We can all thank our new principal for opening up “new possibilities” and making this year great! (Thank you for y’all who listened to my giant rant)
