The consultation poll for the door entry system at Holcroft Court consultation should be rerun for the following reasons:
- The consultation poll did not include details of estimated yearly maintenance fees for each of the options, thus not disclosing the full financial costs for each option.
- The section 20 was sent out before the residents received the results of the consultation poll, thus giving no opportunity for residents to comment on the consultation poll.
- The consultation poll was biased, as only one option offered video, when in reality a google search clearly demonstrates that video is available for GSM options, some of which offer a hybrid solution that provides both GSM and wired terminals. For a GSM only option residents who do not have smartphones should be told they can have GSM terminals (with built in GSM, just like our smart meters) that can be attached to their wall.

The scale of this response confirms our position is now strong enough to demand a meeting with the housing department. My legal advisor is drafting a formal request to inspect the initial consultation records and I expect a response by the end of the week.

I completely agree. The wired option is by far the most expensive, invasive and it's already old when installed. Mobile is much cheaper, flexible, modern.
This is a ridiculous decision to spend £175,000+ on a system when there are cheaper and more efficient options available. I have been waiting for over 3 years for WCC to install GNetwork or Hyperoptic fast broadband to the building and I am repeatedly told that the building needs to be re-wired and with the presence of asbestos this is proving difficult. How to you propose to wire up the building for video entry if this issue is there? In addition I suspect that internal decorations will be needed after all this and we are probably talking years of disruption.

I live in 221 holcroft court, and agree that the poll should be re-run because it was flawed and the comments made by Roger Allen are valid.

The WCC decision to go for a fully rewired entry system was based on a consultation with incomplete financial costs and factual information. The chosen system will require visible wiring, as asbestos has not been fully removed from areas where the current system wiring is located. WCC track record on major works has resulted in significantly higher costs at completion than at the Section 20 stage. The costs have been used to misinform residents in the recent consultation.
