Dear Sir,
we are a group of investors who invested in the above mentioned project.
We were informed by Schon properties that we are all requested to comply to the circular letter you issued on 19th March 2015 (subject: registration of Real Estate rights).
As you might be aware, this project has gone through some troubles and has been recently split into different zones.
While few zones are under [slow] construction, there is no sign of progress for all the other zones.
This has happened for the past - at least - 5 years and we are convinced that these zones will never be built without the Government intervention and intimation.
We are ready to comply with the new rules and regulation but we kindly request you to look into this matter, because we do not feel that paying a registration fee now for something that was bought in 2006 or 2007 - and up-to-date has shown only sand - would improve the situation and enhance our confidence that the project will be terminated.
Despite numerous attempts of finding a solution with the developer, the project has confirmed to be a failure and we have already lost our money in this non-existing project, sadly known also by the Land Department.
We do not feel that paying the registration fee would help improve the situation, considering that there is no progress at all in the construction.
We would appreciate any support and advice.

I have spent the last few days reviewing your messages and the repeated frustration is heavy to carry. We are still waiting for a meaningful response from the Land Department while our investments sit in the sand. I am currently coordinating with several other burned investors to ensure we bring our collective struggle directly to the officials who have ignored us for too long.

Seeing this much backing makes me feel less alone in the endless waiting for a project that should have been finished years ago. It gives me a glimmer of hope that the authorities might finally acknowledge the sand we bought instead of the homes we were promised.

I hope that the Government / Land Dept.in Dubai can intervene and ensure that the Dubai Lagoon project is completed.We have had completion dates for more than 7 years given to us by Schon Properties and we have heard absolutely nothing from Town Centre Management.......How anyone can continually mislead people is beyond belief and someone has to intervene.
I'm an 78 years old italian investor that bought a unit in the DL project as investment for my sons. I'll never see the finished unit neither I'm able to guarantee the investment to my sons.
Signed a contract with Schin Properties in 2005 for a 1 br apartment. Paid 50% in 2 years installment plan, since then no news. Only promises
7 years since buying in zone 1, the first zone earmarked for completion and it's still not finished. I prefer to pay the registration fee when the building is ready for handover. By all means charge the registration fee for projects which have commenced under the guidance of RERA and are on track, however Dubai Lagoons was started before regulations from DLD/RERA and is not on track by anyone's estimate.
I have already paid 50% of my share to Schon properties and my zone 6 has yet to be started. Who do DLD expect me to pay for Sand dunes. I have already lost my life saving and not willing to pay any more
I bought studio in 2014 & paid the 4% but nothing happened yet & they said I can't get my apartment in 2016 as agreement! :( From Kuwait

I booked the apartment in 2008 and am still waiting for delivery. I am not sure if the project will ever be completed. The registration fee should be taken only on handover after completion.
