The undersigned are calling for the resignation of Ottawa Carleton District School Board Trustee Dr. Nili Kaplan-Myrth on the following grounds.

Trustee Kaplan-Myrth has demonstrated time and again that she is not willing to listen to opposition to any motion or policy she supports or disapproves of. During the conversation to reinstate masks she was belligerent with a radio host and dismissed those at meetings that voiced opposition regardless of how factual or inaccurate their arguments were. During a recent conversation at a meeting over transgendered students using gender neutral washrooms or whichever washroom they feel comfortable using, she cut off a parent with a legitimate concern for his daughters safety.

Trustee Kaplan-Myrth by doing this has brought the operation of the board into disrepute by having business be delayed or shut down as it infuriates members of the public as their concerns about their children's education are not being heard. It further infuriates members of the public as their comments are quickly dismissed as racist, transphobic, misinformation, misogynistic, anti-semitic, etc. This leads to parents wondering if the board of trustees actually want to try and better the school environment for their kids, or just push ideas they feel appropriate without discussing these with those who's kids will be impacted by the discussion.

Trustee Kaplan-Myrth by doing this is in contravention of the OCDSB Code of Conduct sections 3.8, 3.9, 3.15, 3.17 and 3.18. All these sections summed up call for decorum, professionalism and respecting differing points of views from everyone involved.

Further evidence of this can be viewed on Trustee Kaplan-Myrth's social media where she will state her point of view and immediately shut off comments not allowing for discussion on the topic.

The majority of the outbursts and hate that have been directed at Trustee Kaplan-Myrth as a trustee, medical doctor and citizen of Ottawa could have been solved with open, reasonable discussion. By the showing of what the board has don't to address possible concerns the majority of parents concerns could be addressed. However Trustee Kaplan-Myrth is unwilling to do this and this leaves parents frustrated to the point of sending disrespectful communications directed at the board, Trustee Kaplan-Myrth, others trustees and staff members of the OCDSB.

Trustees are elected by the citizens that support/utilize the OCDSB (or their respective school board) and as such work for and represent those people. All trustees should allow for discussion of all topics regardless of if opinions align with theirs, the boards, the Ministry of Education, etc.

While Trustee Kaplan-Myrth may be a very knowledgeable and good medical doctor in her private practice, when she steps into her roll as a public official her views and opinions prevent meaningful discussion of the business of the day.

The outbursts we see at OCDSB meetings are not seems at any other Ottawa school board meetings. While the OCDSB is the largest in the city it is unfair to say that it is also the most unruly.
