In our Opinion:

Be it resolved that the parents and community of Chimacum, Washington school district, and citizens within the district borders hereby declare that we have no confidence in the leadership of Superintendent, Rick Thompson, and call for his contract with the Chimacum School District to be terminated immediately by the elected Chimacum School Board, for cause as numerated in the following;

Whereas: There is widespread public dissatisfaction with the superintendent's leadership. Superintendent Thompson's employment has been marked by unprecedented turmoil within the district. Since he was hired, his frivolous decision making process in regards to both employment and termination have been highly questionable. The standards of Mr Thompson's choices in this regard have been characterized as irresponsible fiscal management and failed compliance.

For example;

* With a 20% decrease in student enrollment in the last four years, due directly to Mr. Thompson's blatant disregard and lack of respect to both parents and children.

* Superintendent Thompson has complete disregard of parents and teachers legitimate concerns about numerous issues within the district and has ineffective public relations; he has refused to answer parent questions or could not answer them. Such miss-management has resulted in needless disenfranchisement of faculty, staff, students and parents.

* Superintendent Thompson's actions have directly resulted in weakening the schools parent/teacher involvement and created obstacles to the economic health of the teacher/parent community.

* Muting teachers with threats of termination of employment.

* Cut back in state funding causing reconfiguration of student body placement, while still accepting an undeserving raise.

* A lack of transparency.

* An absence of presence throughout the schools.

* Cutting much needed student aide in the classroom.

Therefore: If you would like to see this school district succeed; we call upon the board, to stand behind their oath in being the diplomatic voice of the community and immediately terminate superintendent Rick Thompson for cause.

I am in the process of transferring my daughter to PT School District right now. The dynamics of the administration and lack of academic performance at Chimacum MS are a sad state. With an ineffective leadership and a lack of competent teachers, if something were to change in this district I wouldn't hesitate to bring my daughter back.

No follow through what so ever on bullying or anything he promises parents will be taken care of. Rick just makes you feel like he is listening and doing something about it when in fact nothing is being done....

My son has been blessed to have Ms. Enlow as his principal and the thought of her not being at the school makes me concerned and moreover concerned at the manner in which the superintendent has handled himself in this situation. It’s appauling really!

As a former teacher at Chimacum under Rick's leadership, I can vouch for the fact that he does not support teachers. It is the reason I left employment there.

He is a dictator! It doesn’t matter how many kids or parents come to the defense of coaches or teachers, he makes his decisions and there is no changing it. Chimacum needs new leadership

As a former member of the board, I am appalled at the boards decision to renew the Superintendent’s contract. His performance has been lackluster at best, driving great, strong, dedicated employees to seek employment elsewhere. His behavior is best defined as adult bullying in the workplace, and that is serious. Enrollment has steadily declined since he came aboard—it is time to take a serious look at the reason why. Those answers start with Rick. He is a problem, and he needs to move on.

I have not heard good things about Rick Thompson so I'm glad somebody's doing something about it I don't have a kid in school yet but I will soon and it matters to me who's going to be my kids supervisor

Wow, this is still going on? Gather some people, have a town march and hold signs... go door to door and get those signatures! We need people to pay attention and act, stick up for our children and their teachers and families! The community needs to be woke up by action! You have your proof— With years of abuse, this is going to take a brave bunch of people to get serious enough to dissolve this bully, and nothing in the world is as beautiful to a child is when they learn how to stand up to a bully and seeing to it be resolved. You all can do this
