Storm damage 3 years ago temporarily closed this great campground and the Forest Service has never reopened it. Rushing Creek Campground opened in 1964. In fact it was the first public recreational facility on the LBL and many think it is still the best campground there. If you are no fan of the megacampground and love Kentucky Lake you would love Rushing Creek. It has the best designed shower house and restrooms anywhere. They are open to the sun and not like most campground facilities, you know steam baths and mold factories. It would take so little to at least make this a self-service campground. If you got to know any of the past campground hosts though (Ferrell, Jimmy and Carroll) you would know they wouldn't have to look far to find someone to care for it. Please vote for the reopening of Rushing Creek. It would be shameful to let this great place go.
People gave up their homes, their land for LBL so yeah, open it back up so people can enjoy it again

Hiked back to Rushing Creek last year. Everything is still nicely intact and in pretty good shape.

We've been staying at Rushing Creek since the late 1980s. It is a wonderful campground, with a secluded feel and a wonderful view of Kentucky Lake. Please reopen it!

My family's favorite campground at LBL. In fact, I'd love to see the entire facility (the 1970s family campground footprint) reopened. But, please, at least reopen the reduced area that was available when the campground was closed. It's too nice a facility to lose.

My boyfriend and I just traveled to rushing creek. He camped there with his family as a boy and wanted to go back. We planned for weeks and were so disappointed upon our arrival to see it closed. Yep we went there anyway around the barricaded road just to see it. What a treasure it is! Please reopen it. It's a beautiful place.

This was the first place I took all of my boys camping. I hate to think of it closed. It was always a pleasant place to be even in the heat of summer. Please reopen it!!!
