This petition is addressed to Oglethorpe University. Dr. Kendra King-Momon, a violently homophobic, callous, and unprofessional woman, has been named the university’s provost. In many interactions with students Dr. Momon has disrespected and Dehumanized them to the point of emotional breakdowns, and then made light of it with humorous remarks. A staunch Christian, she openly berates queer students; calling some “live wires” and studiers of “witch craft.” Oglethorpe University claims to be all inclusive and a safe space for non-heterosexual academics. Dr. Kendra King Momon treats black women and black gay people like the scum beneath her shoe and frequently goes out of her way to flaunt her money and pastoral status. Instead of teaching, she frequently coddles privileged students and gaslights marginalized populations in her classrooms. All protests to her appointment have been ignored or shuffled under the rug. We are not emotional. We are not stopping. We will not be silenced. Remove Dr. Kendra King Momon from the provost seat.
