As student athletes of Agnes Scott College, we are reaching out to you to discuss concerns and find some clarity. As first-year students, we came in ready to represent Agnes Scott Athletics and College to the highest degree. However, we as student athletes feel lost, confused, and unsupported by the college. We committed ourselves and life to academics and athletics, and we would like to see our college commit to athletics. We are in fear that Agnes Scott Athletics will slowly start to decompose, and ASC Athletics will become extinct. Throughout the year, we have lost coaches and recently just lost our Athletic Director. Coach Kern invested into our future and believed in us outside of athletics. Which includes coming into a program that was falling apart, building it up, and showing us a future filled with success. She got us recognition throughout the community by encouraging the department to volunteer within different organizations. She continues a role model for many athletes throughout our department as she took the time to listen, learn, and understand our needs as student athletes. If there was something, she could not do she would find the best possible solution. Loosing Coach Kern was not only heartbreaking for us, it was sign of fear because she was so influential and big part of our success. During this process, we are trying to understand why we lost the strongest pillar of leadership and support. As student athletes of Agnes Scott College, we want nothing less than the best as we strive towards greatness. However, it makes it hard to grow as a department when we are constantly forced to rebuild. It makes it hard to build trust when we are getting new administrative and coaches yearly. We appreciate everything Agnes Scott College does and will do in the future. We respectfully want to find clarity and understanding for the athletic department, so we can feel secure as Scotties and help grow our athletic department to be the best.



For this petition, we stand together in disagreement of the dismissal of Coach Kern, our athletic director. Please reconsider the decision of Coach Kern leaving, she is our strongest leader and wants to see us reach the highest level of success on and off the field.
