Petition to Concordia University President Dr. Schlimpert: Coach Dalzell has made a huge positive impact on the lives of the student athletes of Concordia University over the last eight years. Due to the recent resignation of Coach Dalzell, we the undersigned respectfully request that the President of Concordia University investigate the reasons for, as well as the process by which, Coach Dalzell’s resignation occurred. The many successes that the student athletes of Concordia University’s Track & Field as well as Cross Country teams have experienced over the last eight years would not have been possible without the talent, the vision, the passion, the determination, and ultimately the leadership of Coach Dalzell. We believe that Coach Dalzell has demonstrated a uniquely successful commitment to Concordia University and its student athletes. Indeed, Coach Dalzell has been instrumental in promoting Concordia University at Portland to the national sports community. Although we cannot know exactly what led to Coach Dalzell’s resignation, we do know that Coach Dalzell is an absolutely amazing coach and mentor. Concordia University will be much the lesser without him. We the undersigned hereby request that Coach Dalzell be reinstated. Should Coach Dalzell NOT be reinstated, we the undersigned request that the President of Concordia University provide written confirmation to the student athletes, the alumni, and the community of Concordia University that all of the applicable university policies were fairly as well as equitably applied to Coach Dalzell.
