We, the parents, family, and athletes of the West Charlotte Football team are writing in response to the suspension of Sam Greiner in his role as Head Coach. Any evidence against Sam Greiner is not justified in his suspension and we are calling for his reinstatement. We are also calling to be able to play on our home field, which was promised for this coming school year 2022-2023.
We believe this decision made by West Charlotte was rushed and lacked consultation or consideration of student-athletes and parents, entirely disregarding the group of individuals most affected by the decision. This action was not only taken unnecessarily abruptly, as there has been no proper investigation into the allegations against Coach Greiner. The suspension of Coach Greiner also comes at a challenging time for our student-athletes. Our children lost the majority of the coaches they had trained with and formed bonds with. Understand that having Coach Greiner has given the players comfort of familiarity. This suspension is causing turmoil within the players and causing them to be sure of themselves as they approach their first game. They need their leader, as you can see from the signatures below that leader is Coach Greiner.
On top of the stress of losing their leader, the players were promised that this year they would be able to play on their home field. The players are now told this is no longer an option due to parking issues. It is unclear why this parking issue only affects the football teams while every other West Charlotte team home game will be at West Charlotte.
This neglect of the sentiments of our collective team is overwhelming and regrettable.
By signing below, you show unity and support for this petition and request Coach Greiner’s reinstatement for the 2022-2023 school year.
We, the parents, and athletes of the
West Charlotte Football team request that you consider how this will affect the
team. We asked that you give us the opportunity to speak our truth and meet
with us before making any decision that can affect the future of the West
Charlotte Loins Football team.

I have requested a formal meeting with the school board to address both the suspension and the status of our home field. Legal counsel is now reviewing the district policies regarding facility access to determine our next options for escalation.

These kids need a leader and to be kept off the street. Coach G is influential and puts these young men on the right trajectory. In terms of home field, let these men play. Folks living in the wedge need to suck it up and get uncomfortable. I guarantee they will make friends on the West side of Charlotte
I taught 39 years in CMS. I have known Sam since he was in middle school with my daughter. He is a coach who truly cares about his kids & has been a great role model for them. Sam is needed at WC. I’m sure his team wishes he were there. Do the right thing & reinstate Coach Greiner! From a CMS retired teacher, athletic supporter, & volunteer
Why are they putting the Coach through this? The Man is Awesome. Let him continue to do his job. I have a grandson that is playing under Coach leadership and has nothing but Great things to say about Coach. So, stop the madness and Give us back home field advantage by actually letting us play on our own field. Thank you Yolanda Gilmore
I’m a alumni class of 2021. I have younger brothers who still play and some of them are seniors. We didn’t get to play on our home field my senior year and it hurt. I don’t want them to have to go through what my class had to. Lion Pride
Coach Greiner is one of the best coaches I’ve ever had I’d appreciate if he stayed at West Charlotte so I can continue to grow as an athlete and as a student.
Sa is a great coach and needs to be reinstated
Mistakes may or may not have been made but the kids are the bigger picture. Let’s not make them suffer through this ordeal. Their future depends on it.

The bond between players and coaches are important. Without griener this could really affect the football team this year. These boys love griener, people should really pay attention to how the players feel about griener and not people who are not even on the team.
