We are currently being priced out of returning home, visiting family or just simply holidaying in the caribbean due to the unfair (Airport Passenger Duty) APD which is placed on all flights from the UK. The UK government rely on us blindly paying whatever they ask for but remember we do have a choice. If we make enough noise to our M.Ps they will be forced to listen and take notice of the people that voted them into power in the first place. If that fails then planned boycotts of specific airlines at specified times would probably have the desired effect. At present the UK has the highest ADP in the world, meaning it can now work out cheaper to fly to europe, and then on to the caribbean! Clearly this is a crazy and unfair situation. A fact that has been recognised by both Spain and Holland who have abolished APD due to its negative effect. This is an actual example of a B.A. flight to the caribbean Actual cost of flight = £ 645.00 APD and other extras = £ 443.81 The price we pay = £ 1,088.81 The aim of this petition is to get as many signatures as possible and present it to M.Ps, newspapers, radio stations, TV channels. In fact anybody and everybody that will speak about it and help highlight the current plight facing those wishing to travel to the caribbean.
