We, the undersigned, are Lebanese citizens, residents, and travelers who rely on Middle East Airlines (MEA) as the only carrier operating direct flights between Saudi Arabia and Beirut. Unfortunately, MEA’s current pricing is unreasonably high, creating a financial burden on thousands of individuals and families, especially during holidays, summer breaks, and urgent travel needs.
For many of us, these flights are not a luxury, they are a lifeline to our families, jobs, and homeland. The lack of competition has left passengers with no choice but to pay excessive fares, far higher than comparable routes in the region. This situation is especially difficult for:
• Lebanese expats working in Saudi Arabia
• Families traveling with children
• Students
• Elderly citizens needing affordable access to care and support
We believe everyone deserves fair access to travel. That’s why we are calling on:
• Middle East Airlines (MEA)
• The Lebanese Ministry of Public Works & Transport
• The Lebanese Directorate General of Civil Aviation
• And all relevant authorities
…to urgently address this issue, review the current fare structure, and consider measures that would:
• Reduce the cost of travel on these essential route
• Allow for more competitive pricing
• Promote fairness, accessibility, and transparency
If no action is taken, thousands of Lebanese citizens and residents will continue to suffer from unjust travel costs simply because there are no alternatives.
We urge all stakeholders to listen to the voices of the people and take immediate steps toward fair and affordable air travel.

If MEA continues with these excessively high prices, it’s only a matter of time before customers turn to any new airline that starts flying to Beirut. MEA is exploiting the current situation instead of supporting its loyal customers. If they refuse to reconsider and adjust their pricing, they risk losing the trust and business of the people they rely on most.
The price is unrealistic, imagine the ticket price is even more than 6 hours flight between KSA and Europe!! It’s kind of monopoly and stealing.
It is strange that many companies operate flights at low fair prices starting with 30$ per leg with longer distances and another is example started between beirut and uae, and still mea increasing costs. Whether it is for the government or for corporate is completely not correct and need to be fixed.
To reduce the tickets price from Riyadh to beirut really its very high families cannot afford for going to lebanon more tban one time per year .
Unbelievably high prices ! Got a ticket via Royal Jordanian 400$ less than MEA … our own airlines are robbing us and our government should put an end to this!
The country is in decline and the prices of airline tickets are on the rise. Remove the garbage from this country before it is too late (there is an airport in the south being planned...

The prices are really very high especially that we are a family so everytime we need to visit Lebanon we are paying in the range of 4000$ which is really an exaggerating price for such short trip.
