We are asking Governor Bentley to reconsider the appointment to Matthew Brown to Alabama State Board of Education because of a lack of qualifications. When hundreds of educators, parents and concerned citizens worked tirelessly to to pass a tax last March to help our schools, Matthew Brown was leading the effort to defeat this vote. So a few months ago he is against helping public schools--now the governor wants us to believe he is the right person to support public education. Does a leopard change his spots?
Matthew never attended public school and has stated he will not send his own children to public schools. Plus, during the March campaign his group frequently distorted information in order to mislead voters. There are many well-qualified people who could serve on the state board from south Alabama, Mathew Brown is NOT one of them. We urge Governor Bentley to reconsider this appointment and give someone who will work FOR our public schools, instead of AGAINST them as Matthew Brown has done.

As an educator in Alabama for now twenty years, we and the children we support every day would appreciate a State Board of Education board member with the appropriate credentials and experience, not Matthew Brown. Thank you, Overly concerned taxpayer
This gentleman has just been appointed to a position with the Baldwin County highway department as a design engineer How can he do both jobs.? Bentley's appointment of Brown to the State Board of Ed. smells of payback to a Baldwin Co. congressman
People who sit on this board should be dedicated to the improvement of public education through the funding, academic objectives, and growth of all our systems. Mr. Brown is the ANTITHESIS of these standards! Please reconsider for all the citizens of Alabama.
Why should Matthew represent Baldwin County Board of Education if - his own kids are too GOOD to attend Baldwin County schools. The big question is how could he possible understand a public school system that he has never been part of?
PLEASE reconsider. This is a patently obvious political crony appointment. Brown has zero experience, knows nothing about public education, and has admitted he intends to learn on the job. District 1 deserves better representation.
Do the right thing by our children and revisit this issue!
Please immediately reconsider your appointment of Brown. He has no education or experience to prepare him for this role. Our school children deserve THE BEST people leading our school system. Your choice is unfair to the children and the future of Alabama.

Matthew Brown would be in charge of a committee he's had zero experience in. Having never attended public schools, and not having a education degree leaves Matthew Brown incapable of carrying out his duties with the best interest of the citizens of Alabama.
