Please immediately reconsider your appointment of Brown. He has no education or experience to prepare him for this role. Our school children deserve THE BEST people leading our school system. Your choice is unfair to the children and the future of Alabama.

Brown's appointment shows the incredible lack of responsibility of the state leadership for the preservation of education, let alone the expansion and progress of it. Brown has no faith in public education, no experience with it, and no worldly experience otherwise that at all qualifies him to have any say in the stat's Board of Education!

It has been very clear to us in Baldwin County that Matt Brown does not have the best interests of our children's education as one of his priorities. I have nothing against people with the resources to send their own children to private school, but for the major of Americans they will never have this luxury and must depend on public education to provide world class educational opportunities. I came from such a family and my public school education lead me to great success during my 30 year career in the military. Public education is the bulwark of our American democracy and a key to achieving the American dream for millions of Americans.

I am extremely frustrated that our governor would appoint to the state Board of Education a man who is actually proud of the fact he never attended public school and his children will not attend public school. Mr. Brown actively sought to defeat the new education tax initiative. He was SO GOOD at that, he wound up defeating the renewal of previous taxes, which are required for state, not county, education revenues. What on earth were you thinking, Governor?

I cannot fathom why you believe this man is qualified. It's like asking an oil company executive to be in charge of promoting renewable energy. I can only conclude that you're pushing a Christian agenda, which is a slap to the face of our Constitution. Shame on you Governor Bently.

Mr. Brown's appointment indicates the Governor's contempt for public education. There is no other explanation for appointing someone so unqualified.

This appointment doesn't smell right. Does Matt Brown have any family or relations connected in the Alabama government that have had a hand in this appointment? He is severally under qualified for this position.

Another move by the alabama conservative powerhouse that is the Republican Party here. Issues like this are the reasons educated millennials like me will leave this state. The people running this state just want to do it "the way daddy and grand daddy did it"...
