Many individuals in the Cullman County area and surrounding areas are being effected by the Cullman County Board of Educations new policy regarding enrollment of their children and the children of their friends and family in the school system. By signing this petition, you are asking that the board reconsider their decision and revert back to the "normal" policy wherein a parent could choose which school in the Cullman County district he or she wished for her child to attend. Or that the board take other factors into consideration when determining which school a child is to attend, i.e. if their siblings already attend a certain school, they too should be allowed to attend the same school; if a child has medical needs and he or she has family in the area that can assist and his knowledgeable in his or her condition; allow out of district fees to be applicable; etc.

The board's decision to change the policy should have been publicized and open for debate and/or discussion. This policy was not informative to the parents or tax paying citizens until the first Kindergarten registration was held and people were turned down or information that their child would have to enroll in a different school. The board's procedure was unprofessional and inconsiderate.

My nephews schedule and care will be turned upside down with this passing. It is not acceptable and will make life for my family harder for useless reason! Let our families choose where the kids go to school!!!!

I want my child to go to Good Hope she has family that goes there. It is not right that I was told by a Cullman Board Member that my daughter had to go to Hanceville if I didn't like it then I needed to move and then having that Cullman Board Member hang up on me.

Considering that one of the beliefs of the Cullman Co Board of Education is "Our schools are the 'heart' of our communities" - Parents should ultimately have the right to send their children to any school of their choice regardless of where they reside.

I want to be able to send my daughter to PARKSIDE. We do not live in that district but that is where I have always planned on my kids going. I went there and my husband went there. I know all of the teachers there and know it's the perfect school for my family. Please reconsider this rule.

denying my child public education is ubsured. It is impossible for me to get my child to the school she is zoned for. My only option is to hold her back and pray for change or quit my job.

This decision is going to change people's lives. Having our children in schools that we choose is important to us. I speak for many others in saying...I will have to sell my home and move to have my second child attend the same school my first child attends. This is not fair to the children at all!!

Please reconsider smaller classrooms are better for the children.

I think this is terrible, if you already have children going to one school, amd another you will make go to another school b/c of the district. We should have choices, r we could always just start homeschooling more,,,,,
