I, the undersigned resident of West Chester Township or a nearby community, am opposed to the center for drug and behavioral treatment proposed for the former West Chester Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on U.S. 42. This location is too close to residences, schools, the Pisgah Youth Organization’s ballfields, and other facilities used by young children and teenagers. We believe the risk of increased harm to them is too great, and we urge the West Chester Township Trustees and others in authority to disapprove any application for zoning and other permits.

The Trustees think we are going to roll over and let them put a treatment center right next to our kids but they have another thing coming. We are organizing behind the scenes to make sure they understand that their zoning plans are a direct threat to our community safety.

That is a terribleplace to build a facility like that. Do you building an AA office on the second floor of a bar? NO. And parks are drug free zones so why bring known drug offenders there.
My kids don't need to be playing ball across from a drug rehab facility. I played there as a kid and now my 11 year old and 4 year old play there. Don't let money get in the way of what's right!
I am a former addictions therapist. There is no doubt that officials know this is not safe for the children at the ballfields. Yes, the building is vacant, but selling to the first bidder is not always the best solution. Easy, yes. Wise, no.
I believe this facility will benefit those that need assistance. However, as a parent of small children, I will put their needs above anyone else and thus will not continue to play baseball at PYO should this facility be constructed across the street.
While I am a mental health counselor and I do experience concern about mental health stigma, I agree that this creates an increased risk for area children. I have to side with the idea that the business can find better locations that do not put children at risk for exposure.

We do not want something like this in our community!! Put it somewhere away from residential areas!! We paid good money for our homes and should not be subject to this kind of thing! We are hard working citizens and Dont want it in our community!!

Locating such a facility in the midst of the community area frequented by families and children and along a very busy corridor is not ideal for anyone, including the proposed patients. It creates too much risk and temptation and the potential for an unfortunate incident.
