We, the residents of South Scranton, wish to have a clean and safe environment for our children. The proposed drug and alcohol residential treatment facility at 929 Cedar Ave. is located at an elementary school bus stop and is also located less than 500 feet from South Scranton Intermediate School. During a recent clean up needles were found close to the facility. The Scranton Police Department has already had calls to this facility. We, the undersigned, wish to keep this area safe for our children.

The city council continues to dodge my emails while our children walk past these doors every single morning. I am cataloging every police report and needle discovery to shove directly in their faces at the next public hearing.

The momentum behind this fight proves that the City of Scranton can no longer ignore our demand to pull this facility away from our children. These bureaucrats at the zoning board clearly thought they could steamroll this neighborhood without a word of protest from us.

I live in a town where the people who own the facility at 929 Cedar Avenue, Scranton, Pa wish to open a facility in our town. Many of our residents are against this. At a meeting last night Mr. Halko( the owner) told us that there has never been an incident nor have the police ever been called to the facility. I find this hard to believe. Is this true??

MR HALKO IS LYING. We all know the police are there all the time. Stop putting this in our backyard.

Are they crazy? A bus stop right there? No way. My daughter isnt walking to school if this opens.

Saw a needle near the sidewalk last week. Kids play right there. This is a bad spot for a facility like this period.

I been living in this neighborhood 20 years and its going downhill fast. Keep this stuff away from the school.

My kids walk to that school everyday. Its not safe to have this right on their path. We need to do something before someone gets hurt.
