Some Bensalem residents have just learned a house in Nottingham has been sold to Banyan Drug & Alcohol Treatment Center set to house 12 recovering addicts. This house is 400 meters from Faust Elementary School and also next to a public park/playground. Our children walk right past this house to practice fire drills for the school. I don't know how this can be allowed to happen. Faust is a great school that has kept our kids safe, the staff and parents have enough things to worry about with all these crazy things going on at schools, we shouldn't have to worry about this being around our kids as well. The next township meeting is June 11th @ 7 pm, we need to do everything we can to keep this from happening.*****UPDATE!!! THERE IS A MEETING IN THE WORKS ON THIS ISSUE, KEEP THE SIGNATURES COMING AND I WILL UPDATE WITH INFO ON THE MEETING AS SOON AS I GET IT*****

The emails pouring in from other parents confirm that the anxiety in this neighborhood is real. I am spending my evenings trying to pin down officials for answers even though they keep dodging my phone calls. We are exhausted but the safety of those kids walking to school remains the only priority.

Reaching this level of support has been exhausting but necessary. Seeing so many people recognize the risk to our children gives me the strength to keep fighting for our neighborhood.

This should not be so close to a school or playground!! Has the township approved this? Seems kinda sneaky to work at nights and the township not let residents know this will be next door to an elementary school
I live right across that house with 5 young children who all go to Faust. I feel very unsafe for them learning about this. Who approved this?
My stepfather's farm house he renovated so lovingly should not and was never meant to be for commercial use. I hope all the ghosts that inhabit this lovely home drive all those away. This is just wrong on so many levels that this was even allowed.. and even worse that is near a school, a school I once attended. Shame on the township for allowing this to happen.
There are other areas for recovery houses, not in this quite family neighborhood. Some of these addicts are criminal. Our children are at risk. I know these are people too. My son died of a drug overdose so I know. But please don't put this recovery house on Belleview drive.
Please consider our elementary school. Children walk to and from school daily. Also our neighborhood park is just as close to this facility. In fact it’s smack in the middle is the school and playground. We have enough fear from the abundance of neighboring hotels and the casino.

Why in the world would we do this so close to young children. I believe addicts should have a chance at recovery but not in this location. If my kids were still young and going to this school of be very nervous and probably drive them everyday.
