A growing number of children with Autism are being excluded from education due to a lack of support, understanding, training and funding in Brighton and Hove, this is particularly true in 11+ Education and needs urgent attention to allow these children to access the Education they require in thier own city. A small Autism specialist school and training centre is needed to ensure that everyone involved in the care of children with Autism in the city is supported to be able to manage the changes required to provide adequate provision for children with this often invisable disability.

My 15 year old daughter tries her best at everything, but just couldn't cope with the mainstream school environment at secondary school, too loud, too fast, too many changes in a day. Now home schooled as there is no provision for someone like her.

My son has Autism and is supported so well within his mainstream primary school setting. A better understanding from school staff and a more flexible approach later in his education would be hugely beneficial.

As a step parent of two children who have struggled in school and experienced school exclusion as a result of Autism, I support this. It is a disgrace that parents are forced to struggle every step of the way and these children are being destroyed by a school system that is utterly incapable of meeting their needs

As a mother of a child who has ASC I am so behind this! My son has done nothing but struggle in mainstream school even when they’ve done the best to help him. A school like this would benefit so many children! Why are we not investing in them when one day they will be the ones who we all rely on.

My daughter has her education paid for at a private school by the council due to lack of provision.Even then she is only getting part time, non classroom study,no preparation for GCSE's despite being highly gifted because there is no more fuding for her needs, just buck passing....

ASC is under reported in Brighton and Hove. Many children, like mine, cannot have their needs met by any local school. Many are at home or languishing in hodpitald. We need high functioning ASC therputic secondary schools now

Support this petition as parent to autistic children. And if you want to know how serious it can get when you are put in the position of having to fight for your autistic children's necessary educational support and environment, Brighton & Hove Council make false child protection allegations against you. Please sign this petition also: https://www.change.org/p/robert-goodwill-mp-make-brighton-hove-city-council-and-all-las-cease-unlawful-section-47-ss-investigations I am autistic myself and they committed disability discrimination against myself and our children. They breached Children Act 1989 by conducting the S47 unlawfully and breached multiple social work codes of ethics and conduct as well as breached Human Rights Law and UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. They then coducted harassment to top it off. This LA are appalling and we need to fight autism families being targeted this way. Autism Eye Magazine has another article about autism parents being targeted with FII and emotional harm allegations in retribution.
