I want to change the law that requires if you are a caregiver with children you must have training in learning how to care for children with autism.
I am a mom to 3 beautiful boys who happen to have a diagnosis of autism. After my son, Braxton, was denied to be able to attend the daycare at the gym I have a membership at, I vowed to myself that I want to make a difference so this doesn’t happen to other parents and children. I was told that they don’t have the resources available to care for my son.They are only allowed there for 2 hours max and you can’t care for my child for that time. They are not bad children, they have a disability that yes does require them to have more supervision. In 2018 the CDC reported that 1 out of 59 kids were getting the diagnosis of autism. I want to change the laws and requirements that if you work with kids you are required to take a class and receive the education on kids with autism. I believe education is key. I also believe that any place that cares for children or teaches children should always have someone on staff that is trained and educated on kids with autism at all times they are open. I want to make a difference for not only my son Braxton, I want to change this for all children and parents that can relate to what my son and I experienced. Let’s make a difference for ALL!!

I am honestly overwhelmed by the momentum this is gathering because I never could have imagined so many people would care about this issue. The strength of this movement belongs entirely to you and I am just so thankful to be part of what you are building.

This hits my heart!!! I struggle with finding someone with love and compassion to care for my child!
teachers should be trained on autistic kids, kids with disabilities. Not all people learn at the same pace as others.
My son also has autism and his school doesn't provided specific care with child facing ASD/ADHA/ODD and he got kicked in the face and nothing was done.
I agreed, caretaker should have experience and training on how to help a kid with disabilities.
Oftentimes it’s a learn as you go process. No 2 cases are alike. No 2 kids are alike.

I’m my opinion, we will see more & more of these special children as time goes on. It only makes sense for everyone to understand them.

My last care giver for my 19 year old son! Not good. He did not even no how to make macaroni. My son had a tantrum , the man went out side to protect him self I walked in one day from work. The care giver was eating and on his phone and my son was hungry in the chair. The care giver was the company IT tech. They asked him if he wanted to make more money. All he had to do is take a few classes. This is not ok I got a Google Hub. Have the time I called the man was in the bathroom on his phone or out side on his phone. Care givers need to be trained The reason we have them stay with our young adults is because of a reason. Not just to hang out. They are getting payed to do a service. This is not ok.
