Reference Planning Notice 25/03093: Change of use of Land to Nature Reserve
You may have seen the Planning Notices offering to turn a field by Heron Way into a Nature Reserve. THIS IS NOT AN ACT OF BENEVOLENCE BUT YET ANOTHER ATTEMPT BY DEVELOPERS TO BUILD IN THE VILLAGE.
In 2016, at Appeal, permission to build the 35 houses in the Martingale Estate ON-CONDITION (19) that an Environmental Offset was created on the grazing land North of Heron’s Way; this is now a protected Green Site in the Neighbourhood Plan.
Despite a Breach of Condition Notice being raised the Landowner/Developers have still not actioned this. Instead, for the 2nd time, they are in the process of subverting this instruction by trying to move the Environmental offset down on to the Flood Plain in order to build more £Million Plus Houses that they can’t sell.
Please sign this Petition to demand that our village Wildlife is protected, that this Application is rejected, that the Breach of Condition Notice is pursued and the Nature Reserve is built where we were promised.
Having owned a house in the village for nearly 30 years, we don’t want to see more houses built & wildlife disappearing. It’s a village not a town which is what it will become if anymore houses are built!

This was resolved two years ago.
We do not want the land swapped to appease a developer.
Our village house building has already surpassed our ten year plan

The council should reject this and enforce the already breached condition 19 - they have had years to do this.
The grassland is an important habitat for local wildlife including the owls that hunt here. It's a buffer to the lower plain that floods regularly.

A variety of birds which are known to be in low numbers, along with deer which regularly graze near the houses adjacent to the field require protection.

The flood plain, by its very nature, spends most of winter underwater. A completely unsuitable place for a nature reserve

I have seen this area flooded more than once in the 43years I have lived here. The land above the flood line was so wet your feet sunk into it. A disaster waiting to happen if you build on this land
