We are asking for your support in protecting the quaintness and businesses and homes of West 1st St and West Hedge St, by requesting that the proposed development, JRR HEDGE STREET TRUST, be made to create an exit and entrance on Oakland/Smiths Grove Road, instead of Hedge and 1st. If 230 homes are built on the farmland that joins our neighborhood and the traffic enters and exits onto Hedge and 1st, it will be inevitable for the road to need to be widened. That puts 3 local businesses at risk, alongside family homes. Businesses include, All Tangled Up Salon, The Flavor Isle and Psycho Grannies. There are 2 historic homes and 3 other homes and the salon is also a full time residence to owners on our tiny stretch of road. We are not asking for the sub-division to not build, but rather that it considers traffic flow and others properties. ALL WE ASK IS FOR THE ENTRANCE AND EXIT TO BE MOVED TO AN ALREADY EXISTING, FULLY FUNCTIONING 2 LANE ROAD.

Seeing 500 names on this list feels surreal because I keep thinking about how much those historic homes and local businesses mean to our neighborhood. We are proving that town planners cannot simply ignore the people who live here every day.

We are approaching the one hundred signature mark and I need you to push this link forward right now. If we reach this milestone before the planning board review we force them to acknowledge the risk to the salon and our homes.

The traffic will be way too congested if an entrance & exit isn’t created on Oakland/Smiths Grove road. Mornings are already congested at times with the current traffic coming through 1st and then Main st.
Smiths Grove’s quaintness has already been affected by Bucees, don’t completely destroy the atmosphere with this project! It would seem changing the entrance/exit point would allow the project to continue AND we can preserve the existing businesses and residences. Grow Smiths Grove without destroying its past.
There is no need to destroy 2 historic homes and 3 businesses. please rethink your plans. my friend owns a business there, a very loved business that has been there for years. no need to ruin these peoples lives and livlihoods.
I have taken one of the first buildings in smiths grove and renovated it into a business with an apartment. I have tripled it value if not more since real estate is up. All I ask is for my dreams to equal the importance of the developer. Don’t take away what I have built or what the other businesses have built especially when there is a solution that helps everyone.
I live close to Hedge St and have been concerned about traffic flow to the proposed neighborhood and the rebuilding of North Warren Elementary.
PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS! Leave Smith's Grove as-is, the historic beauty and charm is unmatched in the area. It's already been tainted by the mess of traffic at the interstate end. PLEASE do not take down our childhood favorites like Flavor Isle, just for a road. Build your subdivision, housing is definitely needed, but PLEASE use the existing road option instead of messing up this beautiful, historic treasure. I was born and raised in the area, this matters to me and so many otthers.
We love Smiths Grove the way it is. Please don’t destroy our small town that makes us so unique and special.

This makes sense and in no way would affect the subdivision negatively. If this not agreed to it would certainly jeopardize current long standing businesses and other historic properties that would change our community in a very negative way.
