Proposed apartment complex in Stonewall Neighborhood! This development will have a huge negative impact on ALL residents of Stonewall Neighborhood and the surrounding area, with increased traffic, noise, and crime, as well as reductions in property values being among our main concerns.
Turwell, LLC is requesting a zoning change for the 7 wooded acres encompassing the Higbee Mill Road/Cornwall Road/Longwood Road area. This zoning change would allow for the development of two 3-story apartment buildings where the tree line and wildlife now exist parallel to Man O'War Boulevard. The only entrance to this complex would be at the current intersection of Higbee Mill Road and Cornwall Drive.
We request that this zoning change request be denied, so that only appropriate properties may potentially be developed in this established, single-family community.

The feedback from neighbors remains focused on the irreplaceable nature of the wooded acreage along the road. While Turwell, LLC has not yet responded to our concerns, the persistence of this community keeps the pressure on local planning officials to reconsider the zoning change.

We just bought our home in October and this is very upsetting and unacceptable! Is there nowhere else in this county that another apartment complex can be built that doesn't require squeezing into an established single family residential neighborhood????
This proposed infill project is not in keeping with the current, long standing character of the surrounding neighborhood. Additionally, there is enough of a challenge with traffic in the area now. This project would complicate the congestion unreasonably.
I have lived Lexington for over 50 years, and lived 20 in Stonewall. I see no reason to add apartments to this property. The Clays Mill Corridor is already congested as are the schools. Why is it necessary to develop every green space?
There is no need for apartments nor the zone change. There are hundreds of apartments very close to this property on man of war. It will not only cause huge traffic congestion in the area, safety in the streets and park will be an issue for apartment and stonewall residents.
I would vote not for a zone change. I wish that this space could be used for green space like other neighborhoods. It would be nice to have a walking trail...or just be left for nature. Have you seen the beautiful deer in the fields? Where will they go?

We are also staring down a zoning change that would be detrimental to the neighborhood — a request to build 569 apartment units and townhomes in two- and three-story buildings. My house is one of the closest to the floodplain according to the FEMA map. I checked with a civil engineer who specializes in water runoff issues. I was advised that there would be a greater threat to my property from floodwaters as a result of this development.
