SAY “NO!”
TO ADVANCED AUTO & DOLLAR GENERAL Being Built
in the Residential side of East Petersburg, PA
A proposal exists by LMS to purchase from Desmond, the Village Commons Shopping Center at Manheim Pk. & Miller Rd. They wish to demolish four of the existing buildings and build two LARGE freestanding buildings – Advanced Auto & Dollar General – retail monstrosities – amidst our historic, charming, established, planned residential, small-town community of East Petersburg.
What are the primary objections?
• Traffic –major disruptions from increased car and tractor-trailer traffic, which will tie up smaller roads such as Miller Rd (a residential road)
• Pollution – from increased traffic noise, signs and lighting, fumes, and storm water run-off from the proposed businesses
• Safety – Drastically increased traffic including delivery trucks on this property that backs up to a community playground and the back yards of an established, planned residential neighborhood and street
• Character – The proposed large retail buildings do not fit the character and charm of a small-town community, while the design of the existing structures, and the locally owned businesses housed within them DO fit the character and charm of our community.
I was walking near Miller Road the other day and just staring at the space where they want these trucks to roll through and it feels even more wrong when you see it in person. The emails keep hitting my inbox from neighbors who are just as worried about the lights and the noise as I am so I have been trying to organize all these concerns into something the council actually has to read when we eventually get in front of them.

East Petersburg doesnt need to look like every other town with the same two generic stores. Keep the charm please.

STOP THE TRUCKS. this is supposed to be a quiet neighborhood not a industrial loading dock.

We dont need more big box stores in our backyard. Traffic on Miller is already bad enough during rush hour without semi trucks adding to the mess.
