They wish to demolish four of the existing buildings and build two LARGE freestanding buildings – Advanced Auto & Dollar General – retail monstrosities – amidst our historic, charming, established, planned residential, small-town community of East Petersburg. What are the primary objections? • Traffic –major disruptions from increased car and tractor-trailer traffic, which will tie up smaller roads such as Miller Rd (a residential road) • Pollution – from increased traffic noise, signs and lighting, fumes, and storm water run-off from the proposed businesses • Safety – Drastically increased traffic including delivery trucks on this property that backs up to a community playground and the back yards of an established, planned residential neighborhood and street • Character – The proposed large retail buildings do not fit the character and charm of a small-town community, while the design of the existing structures, and the locally owned businesses housed within them DO fit the character and charm of our community.
