We the undersigned residents and friends of the Sunnyside and Surrounding Neighborhoods of Northwest Denver respectfully request that you consider our position against the proposal of extended hours for marijuana shops. We believe that extended hours will negatively affect the residents who live nearby these shops with increased traffic congestion late in the evening, inability to park in front of our homes, blocked driveways, noisy patrons, as well as creating unconducive environments for children who live nearby. Based on quality of life issues during business hours, we feel that it would be detrimental to residents to have these hours be extended. Please consider the residents who live nearby these shops before passing this measure.
I have a home on a corner lot and can't begin to count how many stoned and/or drunk drivers have almost hit my house in Highland these past 25 years. Parking and congestion continues to be a huge problem throughout the city and extending hours to these shops is a negative impact to what is a normal, child friendly neighborhood. I voted against Amendment 64 knowing it would increase crime and intrusion on my lungs publicly.
