The residents of Prince Georges County Maryland oppose the introduction of a Medical Marijuana Dispensary in our communities. Locating such a facility poses a serious threat to the safety and quality of life in this community. There is currently a proposed location in Camp Springs which is near houses of worship, schools, a senior services facility, daycare programs, youth programs, recreation centers, and in an area where many family oriented activities occur.

This area has more than 10 gas stations in a two-mile radius and extremely heavy traffic, especially during rush hour. Locating a dispensary in this area would aggravate an already delicate safety situation.

Finally, it is believed that marijuana dispensaries may present a substantial increase in crime in the surrounding communities.

This petition will be sent to council members for their consideration in rejecting approval of a dispensary in Camp Springs and vote against CB-103-2017.

I have been busy writing to our council members to make sure your concerns about the Camp Springs location reach their desks. It is truly humbling to see so many of you standing together to protect the safety of our schools and families.

I am honestly overwhelmed by the response we have seen lately because I never imagined so many neighbors would feel this same concern about our community. This momentum belongs entirely to the people who took the time to speak up for our safety. I am just a person who wanted to start the conversation and you have all turned it into something meaningful.

I am totally opposed to medical marijuana dispensaries in Prince George's County. With Prince George's County ranking high crime rates, we do not need or want contaminants in our county that will result in more crime in our communities. I cannot pick up the newspaper on a daily basis, without reading a story of a crime committed in PG county. Council members, please wake up and stop succumbing to negative influences that will have a lasting impact on our communities.

I strongly oppose the location of a Medical Marijuana Dispensary in the Camp Springs area of the county for such a facility can only bring a negative element. I am further incensed by the fact that we had no prior notice or a opportunity to voice our opinions regarding this matter.

As a member of Connect Church6 I vehemently oppose the proposed location of the dispensary. As a clinician I recognize it's place in offering those who find relief in marijuana medicinally. However, this is a logistical mistake...

I, personally, do not want a medical dispensary in my neighborhood. I cannot believe that you, our Legislative Members, would approve a medical dispensary to be located next door to a church, near residential apartments and in walking distance of a middle school. We already have a liquor store and facility that allows adult entertainment a few feet away from the proposed site. Shame on You. Are proposed medical dispensaries in your jurisdiction to be located near where you live? Why is this legislation being fast-tracked?

Safety, traffic and close proximity to churches with youth activities and programs, a senior service center, schools, after school and daycare facilities, among other things makes this an extremely inappropriate location for a marijuana dispensary. It is unfair to this community.

If the smell of marijuana comes through our church side it would distract our service and also, our young people as well as others would be exposed to the smell. The store would also attract all kinds of unwanted people and because we have children present it could also be a dangerous invirerment to our community.
