I really cannot even process this but the golf course is officially protected and we actually did it. I keep thinking about how many times people told me this was a lost cause but 1,170 of you proved them totally wrong. Please just keep walking your dogs and taking your …

I really need to get this over the one thousand mark before I head into that meeting because the council people will definitely look at that round number and decide if they want to listen to us or just ignore the whole thing. It is wild how fast this is moving now but we have to keep pushing while the momentum is actually on our side and nobody is looking away.

I was just looking at the count and realized we are hovering right under that first hundred mark which is honestly wild because I really just wanted to see if anyone else cared about the fairways as much as I do. If everyone who already clicked that button just shot a quick text to a neighbor maybe we can finally push this over the ledge and see what happens when the council actually has to acknowledge us.

The Golf Course has been available for all for over 40 years for people to use and it should remain so. For the number of people now living in Portishead there are limited green spaces available so the ones we have should be preserved and kept available.

Keep it as an unspoilt coastal public amenity please. It is not even viable as a golf course! Which would result in the golf company going bust and the liquidated assets being sold to surprise surprise ... a housing developer.

I have been walking across the golf course unapposed ever since i could walk, I'm 54 now and can remember when there were no pine trees or scrub between the course and the path. You used to be able to find dozens of golf balls on the beach.

I have lived in Portishead for 46 years and have enjoyed walking across the golf course andd along the coastal path with my children and grandchildren. I am dismayed that this lovely rolling green space could be taken away from us.

I.walk my.dog here every day and is one of the main reasons why I choose to move from Bristol to Portishead. Poor decisions like these make people think twice about moving here. They should be thinking about the long term consequences this could have.

It is vital to maintain year-round access to the coast here, to protect the coast path and also provide alternative access when the coast path cannot be used. Also, this stretch of the coast line is highly visible, and the aesthetics of the land must be preserved.
