We the undersigned believe that the tennis courts at Grove Park, Weston-super-Mare, should be retained for recreational use.
We call on North Somerset Council to seek ways of refurbishing or restoring them, which may include working with or involving a partner organisation, to provide high quality recreational facilities for the benefit to the local community.
We further call on the Diocese of Bath and Wells to uphold the provisions of the covenant over the land, which prevents a change of use of the land without their permission.

Two hundred and fifty people have put their names on this and my brain is honestly struggling to process how quickly this took off (I really thought it would just be me and a few neighbors shouting into the void). It is actually getting quite loud now which is exactly what we need to make someone at the council check their inbox for once.

I got an email back from the council office today and it was mostly just vague wording about budgets but at least they know we are paying attention now. It feels like they are waiting for us to stop caring so please just keep checking in because I am still digging through the old land records to see exactly how those covenants were written in the first place.

Seeing all these names added makes the empty courts feel a little less lonely even though the weeds are still there. It is genuinely wild how many people care about this patch of ground and it gives me a lot of hope that we might actually get someone to listen.

Please dont let these disappear. So many memories there.
Keep them open. Kids in this town have nothing to do besides hang around the shops.
Used to play here every weekend as a kid. Absolute disgrace they are being left to rot like this.
Fix them up. Weston is losing all its good spots to developers anyway.
Total madness. We need these courts back in working order for the community.

Refurbish them!! It would be such a waste to lose space for exercise just because the council doesnt want to pay for upkeep.
