Two years after Mallorca International School first sent in a formal request, the Government have now announced the project of a roundabout in a letter to the school. No building date was mentioned.
Even though it’s very promising long-term, it will take a considerable amount of time to build and we desperately need temporary measures before there is a potential fatality or accident.
Two bus stops have now been built in Crestax but no safety measures have been undertaken and as a result, it’s extremely dangerous to cross the road. Illogically, there is no crossing path to reach the bus going towards Pollensa, no sign for the traffic to slow down. The police even said it was illegal to cross the road to reach the bus stop and people could be fined.
Many students, staff, parents and members of the local community use the public bus system frequently.
It’s a 90km/hour road and a collision between a car and pedestrian would be fatal. No later than last week, one member of the ´Mallorca International ‘school Community had a near death experience trying to cross the road to catch the bus with her child after school.
People should be able to use the bus safely, they should have the right to reach the church safely, they should be able to go home after school or after work safely.
The government´s duty is to keep citizens safe and especially children and is failing to do so. It’s only a matter of time before something tragic happens and fingers are pointed.
Like for any school in the country, the government should:
*Set up slowing down signs as a temporary measure.
*Create a crossing path.
*Potentially have police presence at key times.
These measures would not solve the issue until the roundabout is built but would help prevent a tragedy that could have been easily avoided.

Dos años después de que Mallorca International School enviara por primera vez una solicitud formal, el Gobierno ha anunciado ahora el proyecto de una rotonda en una carta a la escuela. No se mencionó la fecha de construcción.
Aunque es muy prometedor a largo plazo, llevará una cantidad considerable de tiempo construirlo y necesitamos desesperadamente medidas temporales antes de que haya una posible fatalidad o accidente.
Ahora se han construido dos paradas de autobús en Crestatx, pero no se han tomado medidas de seguridad y, como resultado, es extremadamente peligroso cruzar la calle. Ilógicamente, no hay ningún cruce para llegar al autobús que va hacia Pollença, ninguna señal para que el tráfico disminuya la velocidad. La policía incluso dijo que era ilegal cruzar la calle para llegar a la parada del autobús y que la gente podía ser multada.
Muchos estudiantes, personal, padres y miembros de la comunidad local usan el sistema de autobuses públicos con frecuencia.

Sin ir más lejos, la semana pasada, un miembro de la comunidad escolar de MySchool tuvo una experiencia cercana a la muerte al intentar cruzar la calle para tomar el autobús con su hijo pequeño al finalizar la jornada escolar.
Las personas deben poder usar y acceder al autobús de manera segura; deben tener derecho a llegar a la iglesia con seguridad; deben poder volver a casa después de la escuela o después del trabajo de manera segura.
El deber del gobierno es mantener seguros a los ciudadanos; especialmente los niños a esta hora del día al entrar y salir de su escuela y no lo están haciendo. Es solo cuestión de tiempo antes de que suceda algo trágico.
Como para cualquier escuela en el país, el gobierno debe tomar acción y:
*Colocar señales de desaceleración como medida temporal.
*Crear un lugar seguro para que los peatones crucen
* Potencialmente tener presencia policial en momentos clave.

No es va esmentar la data de construcció. Encara que és molt prometedor a llarg termini, portarà una quantitat considerable de temps construir-ho i necessitem desesperadament mesures temporals abans que hi hagi una possible fatalitat o accident.
Ara s'han construït dues parades d'autobús en Crestatx, però no s'han pres mesures de seguretat i, com a resultat, és extremadament perillós travessar el carrer. Il·lògicament, no hi ha cap encreuament per a arribar a l'autobús que va cap a Pollença,cap senyal perquè el trànsit disminueixi la velocitat. La policia fins i tot va dir que era il·legal travessar el carrer per a arribar a la parada de l'autobús i que la gent podia ser multada.
Molts estudiants,personal, pares i membres de la comunitat local usen el sistema d'autobusos públics amb freqüència.
És una carretera en la qual se circula a 90 km/hora i una col·lisió entre un cotxe i un vianant seria fatal. Sense anar més lluny, la setmana passada, un membre de la comunitat escolar de MySchool va tenir una experiència pròxima a la mort en intentar travessar el carrer per a prendre l'autobús amb el seu fill petit en finalitzar la jornada escolar.
Les persones han de poder usar i accedir a l'autobús de manera segura; han de tenir dret a arribés l'església amb seguretat; han de poder tornar a casa després de l'escola o després del treball de manera segura.
El deure del govern és mantenir assegurances als ciutadans; especialment els nens a aquesta hora del dia en entrar i sortir de la seva escola i no l'estan fent. És només qüestió de temps abans que succeeixi una cosa tràgica. Com per a qualsevol escola al país, el govern ha de prendre acció i:

*dedesaceleración com a mesura temporal.
*Crear un lloc segur perquè els vianants creuin

100 signatures just popped up on my screen and I honestly had to blink a few times because I was just staring at the wall earlier today thinking about that near miss last week. It is wild that so many people agree we need something done before a real disaster happens especially with these buses just sitting there across from us like a trap. I keep thinking about how the police told us it was illegal to cross which is just absurd when it is the only way to get home.

Seeing the numbers creep up honestly makes me so nervous because that near miss last week is still stuck in my head like a loop on repeat. If we can just hit that hundred mark before the end of the day it might actually force someone in the office to look up from their paperwork and realize this road is a total nightmare.

I lost a child in 1993 in an accident. When a person die it’s too late. If we can avoid it by making the roads more sur it must be done.
We live in Crestatx and it's so dangerous to cross to the church and bar. I also work at the school and so it is really dangerous to get to the bus stop.
Mi hijo regresa en autobús desde la escuela Mallorca Internacional School hasta Inca, la carretera dónde están ubicadas las paradas de autobus cercanas a la esculea es muy peligrosa ya que los vehículos circulan a 90km/h, no existe ninguna rotonda para aminorar el tráfico o señales que regulen hacia una menor velocidad donde están ubicadas las paradas de autobús. Los alumnos que usan el autobús público 301 no pueden cruzar la carretera para llegar hasta el colegio de una forma segura. Es urgente unas medidas de seguridad vial en ese tramo.
Urgente medidas de seguridad para peatones en Crestaxt, muy cerca de colegio, las personas y especialmente los niños están en peligro si quieren utilizar el transporte público, deben cruzar la carretera donde los vehículos circulan a alta velocidad no habiendo ninguna medida de seguridad para ello

Please let’s make this a preventative measure, rather than something that only gets the attention it deserves after a parent, child or both have been injured or killed.
