We represent concerned parents and students at Cesar Chavez Dual Spanish Immersion School (6609 Riggs Rd. Hyattsville, MD)
Due to the intensity of this situation, including more than one recent car accident (3/24/2023), we as a parent community want to make it clear to all relevant regulators, elected officials and the community overall that we are dedicated and united in pursuing any and all necessary changes to traffic regulations to ensure the safety of our children.
Please see our specific recommendations here in a recent email we sent to Maryland State Highway in response to the 2019 traffic study conducted for the school.

The scale of this response has provided the leverage needed to secure a formal meeting with the Maryland State Highway representative. We are currently finalizing the briefing documents based on our documented traffic study recommendations to ensure our demands remain the focus.

Watching parents and children cross this road is so nerve wrecking. This crosswalk places pedestrians and drivers at risk.
It is not a matter of if, but when. We demand action before a child is seriously hurt.

I am a third grade student at Cesar Chavez and we need to improve safety in front of our school. It is very important to me.
