Romsey Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society wishes to ensure the preservation of the Plaza Theatre for future generations, and as a part of this it is essential that it is attractive and safe for use by the general community.

The society wishes to renovate and improve the toilets and install a modern fire alarm system.

I, the undersigned, wish to support RAODS in their application for funding assistance for this work from Test Valley Borough Council.

About the Plaza Theatre, Romsey

Romsey Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (RAODS) owns and operates The Plaza Theatre. Located between Southampton, Salisbury and Winchester, the Plaza Theatre is perfectly situated to serve the Test Valley's entertainment and arts needs. Smaller but more intimate than the nearby Mayflower, Nuffield and Playhouse theatres, the Plaza offers Pantomime, Musicals, Operetta, Drama, Dance, Youth productions and Live Music. Visit these pages to explore the theatre, its facilities, and forthcoming shows.

"The Plaza Theatre in Romsey is an astounding building. You don't have to want to be on the stage to get involved... My advice is, don't miss out on an opportunity to discover Romsey's lovely theatre" --Sir Ian McKellen

The momentum behind this effort has grown beyond what I expected when we first started. It is exhausting to keep pushing for these renovations day after day but seeing this level of backing keeps me going.

Whether young or older, you can learn so much by participating in live theatre but to keep this Plaza going, it must be maintained and kept up to date.

Ten thousand times a year this theatre supports the local community - that's how many tickets it sells. And that's not to mention the over 400 members (adult and youth) who get knowledge, skills, and pleasure from their membership.

A wonderful theatre that runs on the energy of all the RAODS members. Energy is not enough, we need funding to help us give the community a a theatre to be truly proud of.

I have been a regular visitor to the Romsey area over the last 30 years and trips to The Plaza have always been a highlight of any stay! I strongly encourage you to support the refurbishment of this magical building which is such an asset to your community and an attraction for visitors.
