We, the undersigned petition the Macedon Ranges Shire Council to commit at least $100,000 in the 2013-14 budget towards restoring Kyneton’s Bluestone Theatre – the only publicly available purpose-built theatre in the Shire – to operating condition, so that it can again be a focus for theatrical activity in the Shire and provide a suitable venue for local and visiting productions, for youth theatre, and for the Kyneton One-Act Play Festival, the longest running one-act play festival in the state. We see this as critical to attracting people to the Shire, both as residents and tourists, and an essential complement to the hospitality and art activities that already thrive in the region.
