Our kindy is currently preparing a grant application for Brisbane City Council’s ‘Building Stronger Communities Grant Program’. Our intention is to secure funding towards the refurbishment of both children’s toileting facilities, upstairs (in the classroom) and downstairs (off the playground). Our application gains merit through strong evidence of community support.
We invite members of our community to show endorsement for the much-needed upgrades of the children’s toileting facilities, by signing this Petition of Support.
The purpose of the refurbishment is to provide children with modern, hygienic and accessible toileting facilities. This would allow all children, including those with physical or sensory conditions, to access toilets comfortably. Consideration is also going into the design and incorporation of modern fixtures, for efficiency in maintainability and hygiene.
At present, the downstairs toilets are susceptible to flooding during heavy or extended periods of rainfall. Although some drainage solutions have been installed to lessen the impact of flooding, it is an ongoing issue which needs to be resolved properly. Effective drainage of rainwater affecting the downstairs toilets, is a key element of the toilets refurbishment project, which will assist with ongoing care and maintenance.
By signing this petition, you are stating that you:
- purposefully endorse the refurbishment of Lutwyche-Windsor Kindergarten toileting facilities for children.
- agree with the necessity of preventative measures for flooding in the downstairs toilets during heavy or prolonged rainfall.
- acknowledge that the current toileting facilities pose health and safety concerns due to their age and condition.
- believe an upgrade is necessary for creating a welcoming, aesthetically-pleasing and easily accessible toileting environment for the children.

I have been walking past the downstairs toilets at pickup and thinking about how much these kids deserve a clean and dry space to use. All of your signatures are helping me build a strong case for the city council grant so we can finally fix the flooding issues for good.

Seeing this level of support for our kindy kids makes me emotional because I know how much the current facilities struggle during every heavy rain. This momentum proves that our community cares about creating a safe and accessible space for every child who walks through our doors.

This is a much needed project for this not-for-profit Kindergarten. My son is attending this year and the current state of the toilets do not encourage the kids to use them.
Lutwyche Windsor Kindergarten is a community kindergarten that provides exceeding quality education and care for young children and their families. The Kindy has been part of the community for over 70 years and being an aging physical environment requires renovations to bring the bathrooms up to a better standard for children to continue to use well into the future.
The most worthwhile refurbishment for a kindy that has taught my two children more than I could ever have, and with another yet to join the Lutwyche Windsor community next year.
BCC, please help this wonderful kindy to upgrade these facilities to ensure they are safe and flood-free for the children.
These toilet facilities are over 20 years old and in need of a refurbishment for health and hygiene purposes as well as cosmetic purposes.
We need to look after the littlest of our community.
A deserving and definitely needed upgrade.

Have been working with these two bathrooms for a long time and bandaid fixes are costing the Kindergarten too much money. The community needs better loos for this not for profit service.
