Kosciuszko Philharmonic Orchestra To Play 1812 Overture During The Kosciuszko Bridge Demolition
The state plans to blow up the old Kosciuszko Bridge within the next couple of months. Crews will use dynamite to demolish the bridge. It should be an awesome event to experience! The exact date and time will be anounced.
How awesome would it be if an orchestra could play the 1812 Overture, "london bridge is falling down" music from "Titanic" and other selections during the big event.
We are petitioning New York City to coordinate the biggest volunteer orchestra ever made to play during the show!!!
We are a group of local musicians (some Grammy award winning) that can get this coordinated if we can garner interest from the city!

While I love the juxtaposition of playing beautiful music amid destruction, the 1812 Overature was written to commemorate the victory of a tsar against whom the namesake of the bridge fought before he was exiled and came to help American forces. Maybe another selection of music would be better?
This would be an excellent public event that could definitely boost the local economy. Merchandise, food and an orchestra.

A great idea to juxtapose something creative against a backdrop of something destructive. Plus the entertainment value is immense - I feel I would consider flying in from the UK to experience this! Fabulous!

I'm a musician living in greenpoint for over 10 years. I know many musicians who would love to be part of this if it comes together.
