Help Us Legalize the Use and Sale of Fireworks in Chenango County, NY
Last fall the New York State legislature gave counties the ability to legalize the sales of certain consumer fireworks, like ground based fountains and sparklers. Now the ChenangoCounty Legislature is currently debating a proposal to allow residents the right to sell and use sparklers, fountains and other novelties around the Fourth of July. This common sense local law will let our residents enjoy the freedoms that Americans in 46 other states enjoy in celebrating our Nation's independence.
We hope you will sign this petition to urge all members of the ChenangoCounty Legislature to support this local law!

With the governor destroying any hope of a comeback of upstate NY with his ban of hydrofracturing and his subsequent sameday denial of a southerntier casino license, side note, additional casinos in the state of NY is about the WORST move that could be made! Sure it would provide a couple hundred jobs, but there is NO MONEY in the area! And if you walk into any existing NY casinos I would dare say 85% of those patrons should not be in a casino, they do not have the money to lose! Therefore I would love to see the sale of fireworks approved in the state of New York! Like the gun ban (safe act) it's silly that just by crossing an invisible line (state border) that it's ok to buy them there and not here! I strongly support the sale of any and all fireworks in the state of New York! Stores would need to be opened, jobs would be created, and there would be instant NEW tax revenue! This is what dying upstate NY needs!
